VACANT POSITION International Relief and Development, Inc. (IRD), is a non-profit organization specializing in international development and humanitarian assistance in over 20 countries. IRD works with a wide range of partners to design and implement, and provide technical assistance in the areas of health, economic development, relief, infrastructure, civil society and food security. IRD Indonesia is inviting dynamic, committed, experienced and highly motivated candidates to join our team for the following position: Position Title: Program Manager for Community Mobilization Location: Aceh Province, MeulabohSupervisor/Title: Director for Aceh Programs Start date: December, 2007 – June, 2008 General Description: International Relief and Development, Inc. (IRD) in partnership with UNICEF is implementing Phase 2 of the Small Towns and Rural Communities Water Restoration Program in various districts of Aceh Province. The major goal of this project is to implement a sustainable reduction in the prevalence of waterborne diseases in communities and schools that were affected by the earthquake and tsunami. This reduction in morbidity will be attained through behaviour change communication and educating the communities and schools on better hygiene practices and disease prevention while at the same time constructing new water and sanitation facilities.
This program has 2 major components: Small Towns (Urban) Watsan Component in which IRD will rehabilitate water treatment plants and water distribution systems; and Rural Watsan Component which will implement Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in villages and UNICEF schools in Aceh Besar; Aceh Barat and Nagan Raya. The Program Manager for Community Mobilization is responsible for managing and implementing sustainable health and hygiene activities in schools and communities in coordination with the Water and Sanitation Infrastructure activities. S/he is also responsible for managing the day to day operations of IRD’s office in Meulaboh.
Key tasks will include Coordinate, supervise and provide guidance of all hygiene promotion activities and the daily health promotion activities of the community development and health and hygiene teams in Meulaboh and Aceh Besar. S/ he will provide programmatic and administrative guidance and oversight to both national staff and expatriate consultants based in Meulaboh with day-to-day support from the director for Aceh programs, the team leader and the infrastructure program manager Ensure close coordination with UNICEF WASH officer, Meulaboh staff, district-level health departments and other INGOs and donors. Qualifications: The successful applicant shall have the following qualifications: Strong background in public health and/or community mobilization Strong financial, administrative and program management experience Minimum 5 years work experience in community-based projects Experience in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), behaviour change communication (BCC) preferred Experience working with an international donor agency and international NGO Experience working in Indonesia with experience in Aceh Province preferred A team player with strong experience in working with communities, nationals and a multi-cultural team/organization Spoken and written fluency in English Interested applicants should submit their letter of interest, comprehensive CV, salary history, 3 references letter and contact details by e-mail to:
