Job Title : Nurse
Duty Station :Bireun and Aceh Utara, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Indonesia
Classification : Employee, Grade 4
Estimate Starting Date : As soon as possible
Duration of Contract : 6 months with possible extension
General Functions: Under directly supervised by the medical doctor in the field who reports to the Project Coordinator in the Central Medical Unit based in Banda Aceh. The CMU is operated under the technical and administrative oversight of the Health Program Manager. In particular he/she will:
1. Admin-Logistics Task
Ensure proper documentation, storage, maintenance and disposal of medical equipments and medicine. Upon completion of the project, ensure the proper hand-over and accounting of non-consumable medical equipment, medicines and supplies to the Project Assistant.
Ensure the proper filing, storage, dissemination and/or disposal of project documents and medical records. Confidentiality of the medical records must be maintained at all times.
Facilitate and coordinate logistical needs, including procurement of necessary office or medical supplies for the Medical Unit.
2. Health/Medical Assessment, Management, Referral and Community Outreach
Support the medical doctor in conducting the physical and mental health assessment of vulnerable persons in targeted conflict affected communities in Aceh Utara District by:
· Interviewing and documenting the demographic Information, History of Present Illness, Past Medical History in the Medical Examination Forms and mental/emotional health condition in the Mental Health Assessment Forms for each of the client
· Assessing and documenting the vital signs, the weight and height of each client
· Briefing the client on the procedures for the medical/physical examination
· Administering appropriate medical treatment according to the instruction of the medical doctor; and
· Assisting the medical doctor in reviewing the completed medical examination forms to ensure that the all data are properly recorded. Confidentiality of the medical records must be maintained at all times.
Assist and support the medical doctors during medical consultations and management of patients, i.e., physical examinations, treatment and referrals during community outreach activities
Provide nursing care, health education, patient counselling and assistance in the design of community health interventions that promotes preventive health care for targeted beneficiaries during community outreach activities
3. Reporting and Coordination
Assist the medical doctor in preparing weekly statistical and narrative reports on the health activities of the project to the Central Medical Unit in Banda Aceh
In the absence of the medical doctor, coordinate in behalf of the Medical Team; provide technical guidance on health issues particularly on the post-conflict reintegration health activities/interven tions to field partners and the IOM mobile clinic team.
In the absence of the medical doctor and on the advice of the Project Coordinator and/or the Health Program Manager, represent and participate in coordination, planning, informal meetings or discussions in behalf of the post-conflict reintegration health programming
4. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Project Coordinator and/or the Health Program Manager.
Desirable Qualifications
Indonesian Nationality, bachelor Degree in Nursing, and/or with equivalent education and training relative to clinical nursing, minimum of two years clinical practice and experience in public health and/or community health and health promotion, experience in general counseling, Good coordination and networking skills are distinct advantages, good communication skills, personal commitment, efficiency and flexibility, good level of computer literacy
Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds, willingness to travel and to work under difficult conditions with minimal supervision, fluent in Bahasa and/or Acehnese; knowledge of English an asset
