Direct Supervisor:Head of RC/HC Office
Status/Condition:Service Contract (SC)

I. Background Information

Under the general supervision of the Chief of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Indonesia, and reporting to the designated officer in Jakarta, the Information Data Management Assistant will carry out the following support functions:

II. Objectives of Assignment

To support RC/HC Office in data base management, IT related matters.


III. Scope of work  Expected Results/Deliverables/Final Products Expected

  • Establish and maintain a database/Geographical Information System which would be used for collation and compilation of quality data/information on various aspects of actual and potential disasters and conflict related emergencies in different parts of Indonesia;
  • Establish databases and working together with Emergency Response Officer for compilation and classification of quality data on natural disaster and different emergencies, priority humanitarian needs, and assistance activities provided;
  • Ensure an adequate information flow within the Office, including the creation and maintenance of an electronic filing system;
  • Liaise with Data Management/Information Officers/Assistants of other UN agencies, NGOs, and IOM, to ensure a proper and complementary data collection system that would be useful for all stakeholders;
  • Under guidance from OCHA New York, maintain Lotus Notes e-mail and information services for OCHA Indonesia work stations;
  • Advice OCHA Indonesia field staff on problems related to Lotus Notes and other computer related issues;
  • As required, provide technical assistance in the establishment and updating of OCHA Indonesia’s Website;
  • Perform such other related duties as directed by supervisor or Chief of the Office.
     

V. Recruitment Qualifications

Education:

  • Dploma3 with 5 years experience in related field  of data management and IT and proven knowledge of preparing maps.  Bachelors degree is preferable

Experience:

  • Experience in using MS Access, MS Word/Excel/Power point and other relevant software packages


Language Requirements: 

  • Proficient in Bahasa Indonesia and English

VI.  Other selection criteria

  • Experience working with a UN Agency, government or NGO;
  • Excellent inter-personal and general communication skills;
  • Possesses a strong service orientation;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in a multi-cultural environment;
