CARE International Indonesia, an international Non-Government Organization, is implementing Recovery Programme in the Tsunami hit areas of Banda Aceh, Aceh Besar and Simeulue. The programme aims to rehabilitate tsunami affected population of the three districts. CARE International Indonesiais presently seeking the following positions to be based in Banda Aceh:TRANSLATION OFFICER
SUMMARY OF THE JOB The Translation Officer will provide translation (from English to Bahasa Indonesia and from Bahasa Indonesia to English) for internal and external documents/contracts, memos, publications, reports and other information, and provide translation for meetings and visits to the field.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS · Translation of written documents: · provide professional translation, (from English to Bahasa Indonesia and from Bahasa Indonesia to English) of internal and external documents, memos, publications, reports and other information; · maintain a glossary of official translations for CARE and NGO technical terms; · in coordination with the supervisor, manage and prioritize multiple tasks according to importance and in coordination with other staff members; · Translate technical documents using appropriate terminology. · Translation of meetings and visits to the field: · according to need, will provide live translation for CARE staff or visitors during visits to the field; · provide live translation for internal CARE meetings; · Any additional translations as needed. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS · Post-secondary degree in translation, English, or related field (TOEFL score of 500 or above – or equal - an asset); · Minimum three years’ experience in professional translation; · Excellent writing and editing skills (Bahasa Indonesia, English; Acehnese an asset); · Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office); · Attention to detail and an orderly approach to tasks; · Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and prioritize projects according to importance and in coordination with other staff; · Ability to work in a team and under pressure: the position requires an individual who is flexible, can work overtime when required, learns quickly and displays initiative; · Gender and cultural awareness and sensitivity required, and dedication to CARE’s mission; · NGO experience desirable.
