VACANCY: Community Development Director
Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB) is an independent non-profit social foundation, founded out of concern for the increasing incidence of drug abuse amongst Indonesia¢s youth. Our main focus has been primary drug prevention in schools and communities.
As our programs developed, we began to see a clear link between poverty and drug abuse. Providing subsidized education and vocational training to out-of-school youth has become an important component of our primary prevention strategy and we have been successful in reducing the likelihood of involvement in high risk behaviour and drug using environments. The final step in our expansion has been to promote sustainable, income generating development programs in poor, disaster stricken, and urban areas of Indonesia that contribute to the improved health and livelihood of those communities.
We are currently seeking a Community Development Director that will map and develop the special needs of the urban poor population by advocating skills to the local people and will develop, manage and lead a holistic and integrated strategy and programmes aimed at reaching the MDGs especially in the area of poverty reduction. Experience and qualification: - Advanced degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Economics, Business, Agricultural Economics, or Finance, preferably from international university. - At least three years of progressive professional experience, preferably for street children or urban poor population development in Indonesia - Knowledge of the development sector in Indonesia and other international organizations and the wider donor community is a strong asset - Experience in networking with various governmental agencies, civil society, and multinational companies. Capability: - Integrity by modeling YCAB¢s values and ethical standards - Initiative and ability to work independently - Strong interpersonal skills - Ability to work easily in a cross-cultural environment - Ability to build and sustain effective partnerships with governmental agencies and main constituents, advocate effectively, communicate sensitively across different constituencies - Ability to lead teams effectively - Strong project management skills - Capacity to gather comprehensive information on complex problems or situation, ability to evaluate information accurately and indentifies key issues required to resolve problems. - Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude - Ability to work to a deadline Key Duties and Responsibilities: - To advocate and promote the vision, mission and strategic goals of YCAB - To work closely with the various government, civil society, local authority and with other stakeholders, to identify and specify the needs of the project area. - To identify strengths and weaknesses of the human resources available and to develop procedures for training and staff development. - To provide support, advise and assistance in steering the development path of the various functions in the organizations and the project area. - To develop holistic and integrated strategies, policies and programmes of community development, aimed at reaching the MDGs, and establishment of a system for monitoring progress towards the MDGs and Global Conferences. - To develop partnership with government institutions, bilateral and multilateral donors, private sector and civil society. To maintain a directory of partners and their respective country strategies. - To monitor implementation of the programs in consultation with government, civil society and other partners as directed. - To liaise and support with the local and international trainers in the development programmes as required.
