1. Disaster Management Officer (DM Officer)
Location : Based in Jakarta, Indonesia
Start Date : October 10, 2008
Contract periode : 1 year contract
Tasks:
Technical support to GRC Disaster Management Unit in Jakarta office, under guidance of GRC DM Delegate.
Strengthen close communication and coordination with Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) at national and provincial level in ongoing capacity building, disaster management and relief activities.
Technical liaison with PMI Disaster Management, Health and Youth departments, GRC partner organizations and GRC DM project managers / officers in Indonesia.
Active participation in disaster management and emergency relief operations, field assessment, technical meetings, elaboration of project proposals and budgets, procurement, monitoring and reporting.
Supporting documentation of lessons learnt on disaster management, including regular contributions to GRC indo update and other GRC publications.
Required skills:
Academic training in social sciences or related field
Working experiences in the Red Cross Movement and/or International Humanitarian Organizations, especially in disaster management, disaster preparedness and/or emergency relief operations.
Proficient English language skills written and orally.
Excellent computer skills in MS Office.
Commitment to work in multicultural and international teams.
Readiness to work under stress and undertake frequent field missions.
