BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION SPECIALIST Burung Indonesia is a member of BirdLife Global Partnership. It was established on 15 July 2002, as an independent Indonesian non-government organisation, after working for 10 years as the program office of BirdLife International in Indonesia . Burung Indonesia provides opportunities for the public to take practical action to conserve birds and their habitats in Indonesia .
We have immediate vacancy for the Biodiversity Conservation Specialist position (based in Bogor ) with roles and responsibilities to collates and synthesizes information on bird conservation as a basis for strategic priority setting for Burung Indonesia and for dissemination to internal and external audiences. This work ensures that (a) Burung Indonesia’s overall strategy has clear bird conservation goals, (b) Burung Indonesia’s positions and policies on species conservation issues are developed and communicated to target audiences, (c) relevant information on birds and bird conservation is always available to Burung Indonesia staff and partners, (d) key decision makers in Government, Donor agencies and partner organizations are aware of Burung Indonesia’s work in the field of species conservation, (e) Burung Indonesia data and information is represented in key national and international policy and priority setting exercises. If you are a person who has: Master degree in biodiversity conservation or bachelor degree in biology with extensive experience in biodiversity conservation; Excellent knowledge of species database, theoretical and practical issues in priority setting; Good experience in analysis to support scientific decision making and political/campaign work; Good implementation of bird and biodiversity survey techniques in the field; Good experience of statistical analysis to estimate populations, planning sampling protocols and analysis; Good experience of statistical analysis of species community diversity and composition; Some experience of writing for popular and scientific audiences important and critical areas for biodiversity conservation in Indonesia; Good understanding on international conventions of biodiversity conservation and related issues; Good experience working and dealing with government particularly with the Department of Forestry, Ministry of Environment and Indonesian Institue of Science (LIPI) is an advantage; Good understanding on forestry and environmental issues; Able to communicate both oral and written in English.
